Operating Philosophy Background

MCC Hockey is a not-for-profit grassroots community sporting club run by the members for the members: for you.  It is your club.  It is also a club for future members.

There are many aspects to the club and your membership. Underpinning all of our activities is the need for solid financial positions year-on-year and also having necessary funds for both cyclical capital finance needs – such as ground relays – and for planning improvements. We are a club with many complex needs and operations, including financial.  We are proudly and very deliberately debt free.

Our finances support our short-term goals but also our medium and long-term vision.

WHERE DO YOUR HOCKEY FEES GO?

Your fees contribute to the extensive costs of running the club and fielding teams including Hockey Victoria team entry and affiliation, training and game ground hire, coaching, umpiring, equipment, facilities (licences, light and power, repairs and maintenance), capital purchases, trophies, first aid, website subscriptions, club administration and junior development initiatives.

But your fees and fees increases are sheltered by assistance from the MCC, bank interest and kiosk profits and to the extent we have success with fundraising and sponsorship, so the full costs are not passed on to members.
