PROGRAMS

Our ‘Intro to Hockey’ program is designed to prepare both new and existing junior players aged based Hockey Victoria competition. Girls and Boys aged up to 10 years can participate for multiple years in a fun, engaging and safe environment to learn the skills of the sport.

The program is a combination of skills development and small sided game play. Players are divided into age and skill appropriate groups. To help player development and confidence smaller teams numbers and smaller fields are used. This provides children with more opportunity to be involved and improve their skill development.

HOOKIN2HOCKEY

Hookin2Hockey is the official national junior development program of Hockey Australia for kids aged 10 and under. It provides a fun environment for kids to make friends and learn the basics of the game.

Hookin2Hockey also lets parents, guardians and siblings get involved through numerous volunteer roles that are important to the success of the program at centres.

At the MCC Hockey Club we organise our Hookin2Hockey programs to coincide with the school terms and are aimed at children aged between 5 & 12 who have little or no previous hockey experience. Children are grouped by age, size & ability so that they can learn safely & confidently.

Click here to find out about current our HookIn2Hockey programs and to register.

Hookin2Hockey participation is for one term only. Second and subsequent terms must be Little Devils (Stick2Hockey) or U10 Flames registration (depending on the child’s age).

LITTLE DEVILS (Stick2Hockey)

This program has been designed for children between the ages of 5 and 9 with some hockey experience. The program has been developed to help participants build on the basic skills of the game, as well as develop their fundamental motor skills and to improve their ability to work in a team.

Children will be allocated to small groups with children of similar age and experience.

Each group has a dedicated coach. Each 1 hour session starts with a focus on a new skill to develop, followed by re-enforcing previous skills learnt, including simulated games to put into practice what has been learnt.

Children up to 9 years old can join this program as part of the Hookin2Hockey program – older children can progress to under 10 quarter field when ready.

Registering for the Under 10 little devils program is a two step process:

Step 1. Register with MCC Hockey
Step 2. Once you have completed your MCC Hockey registration you will be prompted to register with Hockey Victoria (via the Hockey Australia site).
