Dear members,
What a year this has been. A year like none that any of us has seen before.
While it’s easy to think of hockey as insignificant among everything else, what has actually become clear is how important a community sport such as hockey can be: the competitive exercise, the opportunity to see friends, to get out of the house (!), to be involved in something you love and share in that with others.
That is why we are looking forward now with such excitement and optimism for 2021 and what will be the club’s 60th anniversary year. We want to make it the best one yet!
Planning and preparation for this historic season has already started, and takes its biggest steps with our 2020 Annual General Meeting and the election of next year’s Executive Committee.
All members should have received the agenda and nominations information for this year’s AGM, to be held via online video conference on Thursday, 3 December at 7pm. If that is not the case, please reach out to the Secretary (secretary@mcchockey.org.au). Please also make sure to register your intent to attend by EOD Monday 30 November.
As always, we would welcome and encourage your involvement in the club both on and off the field to make this the best sporting club it can be. As well as the Executive Committee roles, there are a host of unelected and volunteer positions that require filling. You can help shape the club you want.
Finally, it’s been so great to see our Juniors back on the pitch this November, down at our new Elwood ground. Thank you to all those who have helped to make that happen. So much more to come.
