Doc MacDonald Round Wrap

Doc MacDonald Round Wrap

The Doc MacDonald Round was held last Saturday.  This round takes place on the first home Premier League fixture of the season for the MCC Hockey Section, to honour founding member and inaugural Chairman Ian “Doc” MacDonald, who sadly passed away in 2019.

As an annual tribute, a “Doc” medallion is awarded after each of the day’s matches to an MCC player who most exemplifies the spirit, selflessness and dedication of Doc himself.

The round, and the season kicked off with the Pennant D ladies taking on Knox at home.  We were again thrilled to welcome Sue and Jan MacDonald to MHS to toss the coin for the PL matches, and they stayed on to enjoy the days hockey action.  While it was a mixed bag of results on the pitch, it was great to see a number of new club members and juniors being awarded Doc medals, and even one junior on their senior debut.  The full list of winners are below.

Isobel Rook – Women’s Premier League

Kaytlyn O’Neill – Women’s Premier League Reserves

Will Jackson – Men’s Premier League

Logan Bell – Men’s Premier League Reserves

Niamh Murray – Women’s Pennant B

Simone Jeffries – Women’s Pennant D

Pat Tully – Men’s Pennant A

Simon Vive – Men’s Pennant B

Lachlan Walker – Men’s Pennant C

Tom Marks – Men’s Pennant D

Congratulations to all the winners.
